How often are we truly genuine? Is it wrong to say things opposite from our thoughts just to avoid awkwardness or maintain our relationships? We often mediate our true feelings in everyday dialogue we encounter. Our emotions can be easily lost in translation to actual words. Personal expression is sophisticated and fragile.
The notion of the colors black and white often represent bad and good or wrong and right, especially in Eastern culture. But it is hard to draw a stark line when it comes to humanity.
Familiar lines are each given a form that reflects their function. For example, “I’m fine” is a frequent, ready response, to be tacked on like a post-it note.
This piece unfolds the gray areas we encounter every day. It is an open-ended, interactive artistic book that captures an intimate, familiar experience into which readers can project themselves.
